McKay-Lane Consulting is a independent food service consulting firm. We are privately owned with offices in Fort Smith, Arkansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Since our establishment in 1995 we have provided quality food service consulting services to clients in the education, health care and hospitality segments. The firm’s consultants are working members of the team involved in all aspects of a project from conception to schematic to final design and continuing through to the end of the construction and beyond.

Our team has been recognized in the food service equipment industry for innovative design solutions that meet our clients needs in an effective and efficient manner.

VP McKay

Mr. Verlon P. McKay II, FCSI has over 35 years experience in the foodservice equipment industry. He is a Professional member of the Foodservice Consultant Society International who embraces sustainable designs. He designed for many client's while employed at foodservice equipment dealers for more than eight years, which led to a career in Foodservice Consulting in 1995.

Relocating to Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1992 a few years later he established McKay Consulting, Ltd. while attending Westark Community College. Verlon has been an active Professional Member of FCSI since 2000. He participated in the revision of the standardized specification sheet format, facilitating key discussions with industry leaders and manufactures. He continues designing in the public and private sector for foodservice facilities.

Mr. McKay’s additional experience in bidding and management of foodservice equipment projects is an asset during the programming phase of projects. He understands the issues that owners face and can translate the information gathered during programming into a fully functional, economically designed foodservice facility. He is well versed in the design and construction phase. Keeping the client's interest in the bottom line is always a key consideration.

 

Clay Lane

With a career spanning 26 years in the food service industry, Clay stands tall as a seasoned veteran in the industry. For the past 18 years, his expertise has been dedicated to the critical niche of kitchen ventilation systems.

Clay's journey into the heart of the food service industry began over two decades ago when he began working for VP at the ripe young age of 16. His early career was marked by exploration of various facets of food service design, where he honed his skills, gained invaluable insights, and cultivated an acute understanding of the industry's intricate nuances.

However, it was in the domain of kitchen ventilation that Clay truly found his calling. His relentless pursuit of learning as much as possible about the field led him to become a trailblazer in this specialized field, where he transformed conventional approaches into groundbreaking solutions. Clay's vision and technical aptitude have significantly influenced the evolution of kitchen ventilation systems, emphasizing not only functionality but also sustainability and compliance with stringent safety standards.

Throughout his extensive tenure, Clay has collaborated with renowned chefs, architects, engineers, and food service professionals, seamlessly integrating their diverse needs and desires into functional and cost-efficient designs. His deep-rooted understanding of kitchen operations coupled with his technical prowess has enabled him to craft ventilation solutions that optimize airflow, mitigate environmental impact, and enhance overall kitchen ergonomics.
